Equine Professional for Gravelly Way Livery Stables:
We are currently looking for a Livery Yard Manager to run Gravelly Way. We, the owners, do not live locally and we need a Manager to run the yard on a day-to-day basis and manage the property maintenance. Essentially the role involves:
- Organising the yard's livery activities (eg. Worming rota, grazing rotation, keeping the yard well maintained etc) and acting as the first point of contact
- To promote the yard and ensure it runs efficiently and at capacity
- Managing the pasture maintenance effectively (the yard has extensive grazing and we are particularly keen to keep this in tip top condition)
- Managing yard contractors, assist in staff recruitment when necessary and supervise their work
- Oversee the running of the yard on day-to-day basis and supervise a daily check on the horses and property
An important part of the role will also be developing a programme to improve the yard facilities. This will involve identifying work that needs doing, obtaining quotes, making recommendations to the owners and overseeing the work projects.
We need someone who is pro-active, reliable, knowledgeable and has good people skills. IT skills are also important as project management needs to be on computer (supplied by us) and correspondence and reporting to the owners is largely via email.
The role would suit someone who has previous experience as a Yard Manager and is now looking for a part time role. Hours are flexible but it requires a mix of around 10 hours per week on livery yard management and around 10 hours per week on project management and we are offering a good rate of pay for the right person.
